竹编油纸灯笼需选用广宁竹、观音竹、粉竹这些竹木正直、竹节长、内薄且柔韧的竹子为材料，才能削出理想的竹篾，编织灯笼胚，经加工装饰，巧手翻飞，一只灯笼初具雏形。

The bamboo-woven oil paper lanterns require materials like Guangning bamboo, Guanyin bamboo, and powder bamboo, known for their straightness, long joints, thinness, and flexibility. These are crafted into ideal bamboo strips, woven into lantern frames, and meticulously decorated, bringing the lantern to life.

在潮汕方言里，“灯”与“丁”同音，而灯笼以竹为原料，“竹”又和“德”同音，因此灯笼含有“人丁兴旺”、“德泽绵长”的好寓意。每逢婚丧喜庆、游神赛会等民俗活动，总能见到灯笼的身影。

In the Chaozhou dialect, "lantern" (灯) sounds the same as "human" (丁), and since lanterns are made from bamboo, which sounds like "virtue" (德), lanterns symbolize good wishes like "prosperity in family" and "lasting virtue". During weddings, funerals, celebrations, competitions, and various folk activities, lanterns are always present.

就地取材，秉竹为生，以竹为本，点亮灯笼，散发出金黄而又通明柔和的光芒，只祈愿生命延续、幸福永远。

Using local materials and relying on bamboo, the lanterns emit a warm, soft golden glow, symbolizing the wish for life to continue and happiness to last forever.
