Each purposeful boundary crossing enables the abusing therapist to derive personal gratification. Abusive therapists are seemingly unconstrained by ethical or professional concerns or concerns about the well-being of their patients. …… It generally involves many small boundary violations over time that disarm and confuse the client in subtle ways.
