On November 15, the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau of the People’s Republic of China announced a pilot program for “no document presentation” lanes at the Shenzhen Bay and Gongbei border crossings.

To further facilitate travel between Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong and Macau regions and improve customs clearance efficiency, the bureau will pilot an upgrade to some fast-track lanes at Shenzhen Bay Port in Shenzhen and Gongbei Port in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. Individuals who frequently travel between Chinese mainland and Hong Kong or Macau for personal reasons will be able to use the “no document presentation” lanes.

为了进一步便利中国大陆与香港、澳门地区之间的旅行，并提高通关效率，该局将在广东省深圳市深圳湾口岸和珠海市拱北口岸的部分快捷通道进行升级试点。经常因个人原因往返中国大陆与香港或澳门的人士将能够使用“无纸化通关”通道。

Starting November 20, 2024, mainland residents aged 14 and above with a valid travel permit for Hong Kong and Macau and a multiple-entry visa for stay, family visits, business, talent exchange, or other purposes, as well as Hong Kong and Macau residents holding valid travel permits to the mainland (including non-Chinese nationals), can choose to use these lanes without needing to present a physical travel document. This is contingent on consenting to border inspection authorities collecting and verifying facial recognition, fingerprints, and other biometric information. Those opting to use other inspection lanes will still need to present valid travel documents for inspection.Mainland residents traveling with official travel documents will not yet be eligible for the “no document presentation” lanes and must proceed through other inspection channels as usual.

从2024年11月20日起，年满14周岁的中国大陆居民，持有有效的港澳通行证和多次往返签证，用于逗留、家庭访问、商务、人才交流或其他目的，以及持有有效回乡证的香港和澳门居民（包括非中国国籍人士），可以选择使用这些通道而无需出示实体旅行文件。这需要同意边检当局收集和验证面部识别、指纹和其他生物识别信息。选择使用其他检查通道的人仍然需要出示有效的旅行文件以供检查。持有公务旅行文件的中国大陆居民暂时不符合“无纸化通关”通道的条件，必须像往常一样通过其他检查通道。

Since mainland residents entering Hong Kong or Macau need to present documents for inspection, and Hong Kong and Macau residents entering the mainland must present documents for residency, travel, and other formalities, all travelers between Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong and Macau regions are advised to carry valid travel documents with them.
