Torch has already left, and with their departure we got some concerning news. The air carrier(s) contracted for the redeployment flights from Kuwait to the U.S. are imposing a checked baggage limit of only 2 bags (ruck/duffle) of 70 lbs each, or 1 bag at 100lbs.

That means Soldiers were forced to throw away personal clothing and belongings, imposing financial hardship especially on junior enlisted soldiers.

Now as anyone who has deployed with an aviation unit with all its specialized flight gear knows, this limit is an unrealistic expectation. It was not published or enforced for the deployment flights, so a significant number of soldiers already far exceed this restriction in both quantity and weight, with multiple bags and boxes between 80-100lbs.
They stratted 3 aircraft in to allow time for reservists to assume garrison MEDEVAC coverage. Strat air was not funded for the return trip. Containers were sealed 2 months ago.
So... a lot are taking significantly less back than what they deployed with and are still over the limit. Another bird or some extra containers would be nice. While safety of course, is in play when it comes to weight, this could have been coordinated just a tad better.
